NVD Japan Club celebrated the Lunar New Year with a festive mochi tasting! Students sampled traditional rice cakes, learned about the holiday’s cultural significance, and shared in the joy of this sweet tradition together. A fun and flavorful celebration! #NVDpride

Mrs. Lee’s Korean 2 and 3 students at NVD brought language to life through traditional Korean calligraphy. Writing a meaningful historical text gave students a deeper connection to Hangul and a powerful appreciation for Korea’s rich cultural heritage. #NVDpride

We are proud to celebrate Elizabeth as a recipient of the Bergen County Clerk’s Five Star Student Award! This honor recognizes her outstanding achievements, leadership, and commitment to her community. Elizabeth will receive an award and a certificate from the John S. Hogan Foundation. Well done, Elizabeth!

The NVD Advanced Culinary Baking and Pastry classes made Gâteau St. Honoré, named for the patron saint of baking and pastry arts. The treat is a composite of puff pastry, choux, and diplomat cream bound together with caramel and patience, An educational, and delicious, project!

Congratulations to the NV Winter Guard for their 1st pl. finish at the MAIN Hillsborough HS Competition this past Saturday. The guard scored a 59.93, over the three other guards in their division. The guard looks forward to competing at Lakeland HS this coming weekend! #NVpride

The Chinese Club’s most popular event returned with another great turnout. Students gathered after school for the All You Can Make and Eat Dumpling Event, making and sharing dumplings together while celebrating the Lunar New Year in the Culinary Room. #NVDpride

NVD Japanese students connected live with Kyoto Ryoso HS in Japan on Jan 29 through the KAC Global Classmate program. About 50 students and 5 educators shared school, classroom, and home tours while communicating in Japanese and English. A meaningful cultural exchange! #NVDpride

Congratulations to Gabby, our January Student of the Month at NVD! Gabby exemplifies hard work, dedication, and perseverance both in and out of the classroom. She challenges herself academically, excels at her job, and balances college applications and family responsibilities, all while maintaining a positive, cheerful attitude. We are proud of you and grateful for the positive energy you bring to our school community!

The Hebrew Club at NVD was honored to host Holocaust survivor Sami Steigmann, who shared his powerful story of resilience, service, and compassion. Our students were inspired by his message of kindness, character, and never judging others by anything but who they are.

The National Honor Society at Northern Valley Regional at Demarest presented a check for $15,000 to Covenant House NJ. Funds were raised from the sale of discount cards for restaurants and shops in the Northern Valley region. Covenant House is a national organization that helps young homeless adults find a safe shelter and warm bed.

Students in AP Art History created Islamic tile paintings as part of their study of Islamic art.

NVD Thespians shined at STANJ, the largest competition yet with 1100 students from 50 schools. Congrats to finalists Lisa Fishbeyn, Pablo Hernandez Ruiz, and Liam Weill. Special congrats to Governor’s Award winners Liam Weill & Connor Yeoh, for Improvisational Pairs. #NVDpride

Congratulations to the NV Supervisor of Performing Arts, World Languages, and FACS, Jonathan Harris, on receiving the NJ Governor’s Award for Distinguished Service in Theatre Education and Arts Administration at the recent STANJ competition! #NVDpride
