Winter Athletics End of Season Highlights. What a remarkable season it was in Demarest this past Winter 2023-2024

 

Boys Basketball

 

The NVD Boys Basketball program had a historic season. The team played one of the toughest schedules in North Jersey.  They reached The Elite 8 of The Bergen County Jamboree for the first time in 40 years. 

 

1) Big North National Division Champions 

2) 20-6 Overall Record

3) Finished the season Ranked in The Top 10 of The North Jersey Top 25 rankings. 

4) Brandon Srebnick eclipsed the 1,000 point mark in his career. 

5) Zach Schweid was named First Team All County. 

 

Girls  Basketball


 

The NVD Girls Basketball program had a terrific season. The teamreached The Elite 8 of The Bergen County Tournament.  

 

1) 22-7 Overall Record

2) Finished the season Ranked in The Top 10 of The North Jersey Top 25 rankings.

3) Gabriella Mittelman was named First Team All County 

4) Angelina Tirado eclipsed The 1,000 Point Mark in her career. She is only a Junior.  

 

 

Boys Bowling

 

The boys bowling team came out of nowhere with their starting team consisting of all underclassmen with 3 of them being sophomores. The team reached the North 1 Group 2 State Sectional Semifinals where they lost by 20 pins. Going to be a lot of fun next year with the entire team returning. 

 

1) Big North National Division Champions 

2) 17-2 Overall record 

3) Finished the Season Ranked in The North Jersey top 10

 

 

Girls Bowling

 

The girls bowling team had another memorable season.  They once again went undefeated in divisional play and have now won 42 straight divisional matches. 

 

1) Big North National Division Champions 

2) 17-2 Overall record 

3) Finished the Season Ranked in The North Jersey Top 10 

 

 

Wrestling 

 

The wrestling program had a historic season setting the single season wins record.  The team was competitive every time they wrestled.  It was clear this was a team that got significantly better throughout the season. 

 

1) 16-14 overall record- Most wins in a single season in school history. 
2) Finished the Season Ranked #23 In the Final North Jersey Top 25 Rankings

 

 

Girls Indoor Track and Field

 

The team had another successful season.  The team put in countless hours in training.  Their hard work showed off at The Big North National Division Championship.

 

1) Big North National Division Champions 
2) 5-0 Divisional Record 
3) Finished the Season Ranked in the Top 10 in The Final North Jersey Top 25 Rankings

 

 

Boys Indoor Track and Field

 

The team had another successful season.  The team put in countless hours in training.  Their hard work showed off at The Big North National Division Championship. They captured the programs First State Group 2 Championship in over 50 years. 

 

1) Big North National Division Champions 
2) 5-0 Divisional Record 
3) Bergen County Large Schools Champion 
4) North 1 Group 2 State Sectional Champions 
5) State Group 2 Champions 
6) Finished the Season Ranked #1 In the Final North Jersey Top 25 Rankings
7) Liam Paneque takes First Place in The Long Jump at The Indoor Track and Field State Meet of Champions with a jump of 23 feet! He is the #1 Long Jumper in New Jersey. He is only a Junior and a multi sport athlete.

Ice Hockey 

 
 The northern valley ice hockey team had another good season. The team qualified for both the Silver Cup and the state playoffs. They were fortunate to have the ability to have indoor and outdoor practices and games during the season. 

Swimming 

The swimming team had a good season for both the boys and girls teams. The Boys finished Divisional Play with a record of 4-1 finishing in second place.  The girls team ended the season with a record of 2-3. Both teams put in countless hours throughout the season. 


Fencing 


Congratulations to Demarest’s Trinity Wang on placing at The NJSIAA State Fencing Championships.
