Abram Demaree Homestead Scholarship

The Abram Demaree Homestead is a non-profit group. All proceeds go to maintain the historical buildings and farm.  This year they are offering a $2500 scholarship to a senior student who has lived in Haworth, Closter or Demarest and has been accepted to any educational institution for the coming school year, who has an interest in the areas of American History, agricultural science, or environmental conservation.

Closter Recreation Challenger Volunteer Scholarships

Closter Recreation will award two students who have helped coach the young, special athletes at the Closter Recreation sponsored Challenger Programs (Basketball & Baseball). 
Besides having to have attended the challenger program over the years you must complete an essay that touches on both of these subjects:
1. What I learned about myself AND the special athletes that I was involved with at the Closter Recreation Sponsored Challenger Program?
2. Your best friend asks you why you volunteer, what do you say?

The  Aspiring Special Educator Award

This award will be given to a graduating senior who is interested in majoring in Special Education or a related service.  The student must be a participant of the Hand-in Hand Club for at least the last 2 years, and be attending a school with the intentions of majoring in the field of Special Education or a related service such as Speech, Occupational, Behavioral Therapy, School Psychology, Social Work, etc.
An essay will be required.  The essay should be one page double spaced, and should include why you are choosing this field of study.  Please put your name on the top of the essay along with your Student ID and email your essay to [email protected] with Aspiring Special Educator Application in the subject line, no later than May 1, 2023.

The Edward T. Rogan Memorial Scholarship - Sponsored by the Closter Lions Club

The Closter Lions Club is offering a $1000 scholarship in memory of Edward T. Rogan who was a lifelong resident of Closter.  He held positions as Closter Borough Attorney, Councilman and was one of Bergen County's youngest mayors.  Edward Rogan was Closter Lion's Club president as well as a lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary's church.   This scholarship will be awarded to a student that best combines academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community and social service.  Special consideration will be given to students pursuing a Political Science Major and intend to apply to law school.

The Bergen County New Jersey American Legion Gene Howell/Don Holmes Scholarships

The Bergen County Commission on the Status of Women (COSW) was founded in 1975 as a bridge between government and community to study the needs of women and to promote the expansion of women’s rights and empowerment. Woman's Club of Haworth Scholarship

Applicant must reside in Haworth. The scholarship will be awarded to the students who, in the opinion of the Committee, best combine academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community service and social service. Financial aid will not be a consideration.  This $1000 award is paid directly to the recipient.

Kevin J. Duffy Memorial Scholarship Essay Contest

Each year the Council of Irish Associations of Greater Bergen County, Inc. awards a thousand dollar scholarship to the first-place winner, and a five-hundred dollar scholarship to the runner-up.  This opportunity is open to all Bergen County high school seniors who plan to attend an institute of higher learning, the essay contest is for the purpose of promoting awareness and knowledge of Irish and Irish-American culture. The Demarest Athletic Boosters' Club scholarship application is open to NVRHS Demarest seniors whose parent/guardians are active members of the Norsemen Athletic Boosters Club with their dues up to date. 
Student athlete must have played a minimum of one sport during each year of high school
will be attending a 2yr or 4yr college in the fall of 2023.

The Friezo Family Foundation is offering a $3000 scholarship in memory of Michael P. Friezo who was a leader who believed that there is "no I in TEAM."
You must be a male senior student, on the football team for a min. of 3 yrs, live in the district for a min. of 3 yrs and have a min. GPA of 3.5

This $1000 award recognizes athletes who understand the value of high school athletics in both work and deed.

1. Son or daughter of a member of the Bergen County Coaches Association.
2. Senior in high school graduating in the year the scholarship is awarded.

5. Completed Application forms/answer to essay question.
